FROM THE PRESIDENT
Softball season is in full swing and almost over.  Lots of new things will be
happening with the seeding and all stars.  It is both very exciting and will be a
great thing for our sport of softball.

Our membership is at 230, which reaches our goal from the beginning of the year.
Everyone has been working very hard to make this happen and I thank you for
your cooperation. I welcome you and thank you for helping make our
organization the best in the state.
Important Dates
·        April 10:  District named
·        April 11:   Seeding meeting
·        April 25-26:  State Tournament
·        May 1:  LSCA All-State nominations
·                   due
·        May 10:  All Star Luncheon and GAME

All Star Game
This year the all star game has been moved from LSU to Louisiana College.  We
are very excited about this move.  LSU was not going to be able to host the all
star game due to them hosting the SEC regional.  The cost for the hotel and LSU
facilities has gone up tremendously and the executive council thought this would
be the perfect time for a move.  Tim Whitman at Louisiana College has been a
great supporter of the LSCA and was willing to let us use his facility.  The
Alexandria / Pineville area was very willing to work with us to make the move a
very successful one.  Please try to attend our next executive meeting which will
be Friday May 9th at the Best Western off of McArthur Drive in Alexandria.  The
meeting will start at 11:00 am.  The all stars will be reporting that afternoon and
practice will begin at 6:00 at Johnny Downs Complex in Alexandria.  Everyone is
welcome to come and help. A luncheon will take place on Saturday at 11:00.  The
DH will begin at 4:00 at Louisiana College.  The gates will open at 2:00.
LHSAA ACADEMIC
All-STATE
The LSCA has worked extremely
hard to get this honor for our
softball players.  All athletes
chosen on the composite team will
be honored at the LSCA All-Star
Luncheon which will be on
Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the
Alexandria Riverfront.
Winter Clinic

This year’s clinic was huge
success.  Attendance was good
and the guest speakers were
fabulous.  Our speakers were
Michael Bastian; he is the head
coach of the Chinese National
Team. Tim Whitman was our
second speaker and he is the
head coach at Louisiana College.
We would like to thank all who
attended the clinic.  Special thanks
to Tim Whitman and Louisiana
College for allowing us to have our
clinic on their campus.  Look for
the dates of next year’s clinic.
LHSAA wants to be on the agenda
and do a softball rules clinic.

Senior High School on Friday April 11, 2008 at 10:00 am (please note

STATE TOURNAMENT

again be held in Sulphur, Louisiana.
Last year’s tournament was a huge
success and the people in Sulphur
are doing an excellent job of making
every team feel special.

April 25-26, 2008.
